Born Joanie Laurer on December 27th 1970, Ms Laurer had her name legally changed to Chyna in 2007. Chyna was born to parents Joe & Janet Laurer in Rochester, New York the youngest of three. From a very early age Chyna showed a real intrest in education and was reading by the age of two, Chyna soon became quite the scholar and was highly educated graduating the University of Tampa with a double major in Spanish Literature. Chyna at the age of 16 left her cruel and controlling mother and found her her father who had left Janet Chyna’s mother several years before hand. Joe Laurer Chyna’s father tried to push Chyna into jobs she didn’t want and left Chyna in $40,000 dollar debt just after she graduated University. Chyna at the age of sixteen overcame cancer. She also served in the Peace Corps for several months.

Chyna began training with Walter “Killer Kowalski” in 1996  and by 1997 was on the wwf/wwe pay roll as the bodyguard of HHH. Chyna went on to breakdown more barriers in the wrestling world than any other athlete male or female. She Repetedly made history. First and only woman

• to fight men on a regular basis
• hold the Intercontinental Championship
• enter the Royal Rumble
• enter the King of the Ring
• to be undefeated women’s champion

In 2001 Chyna the WWF/WWE parted ways

Chyna then began to work for Mr.Inoki and NJPW and became an icon in Japan as Joanie Laurer. Fighting Chono in the sold out Tokyo Dome another historic night for Chyna. She shocked wrestling fans world wide with her new look and wrestling style.

Soon after NJPW Chyna became involved with Ex WWF/WWE wrestler X-Pac who was an abusive boyfriend. Chyna’s life got out of control at this point and took some time to repair. Chyna in 2004 took part in VH1 Surreal Life season 4 and with the help of friends she made on the show she gained the strength to leave Sean and started to get her life back on track. Shocking the world with an appearence at the Surreal Life 4 Reunion Show looking much happier and healthy. Chyna later took part in Celebrity Rehab to prove that the only demons in her life she was battling were those created by traumas throughout childhood and adolescence. Chyna remains on a healthy path working on a tv and movie career whilst making guest appearences in Mr. Inoki’s IGF wrestling Federation
